51 golf courses in Aquitaine

It was in Pau, at the foot of the Pyrenean mountains, that continental Europe’s first golf course was built in 1856. A few years later, in 1888, France’s second course was inaugurated in Biarritz…

Since then, dozens of golf courses have been laid out in the valleys of Périgord and Lot-et-Garonne, in the shade of the pine trees of the Landes forest, or overlooking the Ocean.

Some of the best-known of them: Ilbaritz, Seignosse, Moliets, Casteljaloux, Rochebois, Bordeaux-Pessac, Margaux, Chiberta…

In total, there are 51 courses in Aquitaine, all offering different landscapes, views and moments of relaxation in the open air, and all in a gentle oceanic climate.

A great many of them also offer accommodation – residences, villas or 4-star hotels. And after a round of golf what better than to go to a good restaurant or to eat in the refined atmosphere of the club house, or perhaps to take a look at the surrounding heritage.
