Gourmet delights

The lifestyle in South-West France is largely built around its culinary delights. Here in the region, the pleasures of the table are a key part of daily life, from delicious homely dishes to the exceptional creations of the top restaurants.

Foie gras and figs
Bon appétit!

What about the renowned poule au pot (chicken stew) which good King Henri IV, born in Pau, declared every family should eat at least once a week… A typical recipe from Béarn!

And then there is fattened duck – one of the essential ingredients in the cuisine of the region – with the famous foie gras, or the delicious flavour of duck breast prepared with spices or honey.

The vast stretches of unspoilt nature in Aquitaine offer a whole range of top-quality produce. Some of the more typical products even have their own museums or tourist routes

From food festivals to renowned markets, from one speciality to another, for starters, main courses or desserts, discerning gourmets and lovers of all good food and drink are sure to find something to their taste in Gascony.
