The Purple Jazz Festival is the perfect opportunity to come and discover the iconic Périgord town which was home to the famous Cyrano. Once you've seen it for yourself you'll understand why the timber-framed houses lining the picturesque banks of the Dordogne have a reputation for inspiring declarations of love.
And let's not forget the music! There will be scores of musicians on hand at this year's festival to get visitors and locals swinging, from May 23th to 26th, in venues all over town.
There are various weekend packages offered by the tourist board, for example the 'Bergerac in a weekend' package, with prices starting from 79 euros per person.
This includes one night in a hotel or guest house and a host of activities: a visit to a vineyard and the Château de Monbazillac, a boat trip in a traditional barge, and even a visit to the tobacco museum, to find out more about another of the region's emblematic products.
Or explore the region in your own time, and take in the numerous castles and Châteaux, the town of Saint-Emilion and the Valley of Early Man a little further afield…
An ideal way to taste the art of living, Périgord style, these packages are also available after the festival throughout the summer.
