Cordon Bleu in Périgueux

Initial's chefThe capital of the Périgord region is famous for its gastronomy, with its weekly markets, its winter foie gras markets and its International Gourmet Cookery Book Salon (biannual - this year from November 12th-14th).

This Autumn sees a new opportunity for food lovers to indulge themselves, at a time when people are (re)discovering the joy of making things themselves.

Nicolas Lamstaes, a former chef in the kitchens of Alain Ducasse, has opened a cookery studio to the public. Tricks and tips, chef's secrets, and tasting of pre-prepared dishes: a perfect introduction to fine cuisine.

The dishes vary for the lunchtime and evening classes, including patisseries and traditional South-West classics. There are never more than 15 students at one time, and there are expert advisers on hand to help you learn.

So roll up your sleeves and get stuck in!
