Follow the musical tranhumances

On the Laàs Musical Transhumance poster in 2013.the transhumance is always a festive time for the villages that the shepherd and their flock cross through.

Based on this tradition and with the desire to establish a major festival in this little corner of Béarn, between Bayonne, Orthez and Pau, for 18 years the Transhumance musical team has taken over Laàs castle park to offer a 5 days and 4 nights festival to the public.

From the 8 to 12 May, during Ascension weekend, 300 artists, 26 spectacles, 3 stages…

Music in all forms, a musical springboard among 6 groups during the Polyphonic night, from street theatre, workshops, world music, exhibitions, a farmer’s marker… Consult the programme on the Transhumances site.

The parade of the shepherds of Aramits and their flocks accompanied by their musician friends, traditional dancers and stilt walkers plus all of the participants in the 2013 event will take place on Sunday morning.

Without forgetting the headliners, Nolwenn Leroy, Kalakan, Andins Piurek or even Nelson Monfort for a Jean Ferrat recital.  This year in fact Ireland who has the honour of the celtic day.  Dancers from Beltaine and Craic Dance, and the musicians from the Askol ha Brug Pipe Band will set the place on fire!
