From the Port de la Lune to the Isle of Patiras: a trip on the Gironde estuary
Gens d'Estuaire is a company specialising in river tourism on the Garonne and its estuary - the Gironde. They offer a number of options to help you explore the largest estuary in Europe, with its islands, wildlife, plant life and the magnificent châteaux which line its banks.
On Fridays and Saturdays from October through until May, the company organises two original and intriguing cruises: Sorel'Lune and D'îles en idylle (Islands and idylls).
Every Friday night, hop on board La Sorellina in Bordeaux for a dinner cruise in this chic moving restaurant, with an aperitif on the quayside and gourmet meal during the cruise. Food for mind, body and soul with fine regional produce, Bordeaux wines and a spectacular view of the city's illuminated historical facades.
On Saturdays hop on at Bordeaux or at Pauillac in the Médoc, and let Gens d'Estuaire be your guide for a day of discovery on the Estuary aboard the good ship Silnet. Includes the isle of Margaux (inc. vineyard visit) and the lighthouse on the isle of Patiras. Along the way you'll see some architectural treasures too, including the fortified medieval town of Blaye.
On 11.11.11, enjoy a special, one-off cruise dedicated to wine tourism. By barge and by bus, the Grand Cru trip takes you on a voyage of discovery dedicated to the estuary and its wines. The trip includes live commentary from an expert on the estuary, lunch on the isle of Patiras, wine tasting sessions, a tour of Château Lynch Bages and a guided tour of the Médoc's famous 'route des vins'.
