Fancy a short break that is also informative? Come and meet Cro-Magnon and his friends, in Périgord Noir at the heart of the Vallée de l’Homme.
Also so-named due to the significant number of pre-historic grottos and sites, the Vézère Valley is globally famous for the famous decorated grotto of Lascaux, although there are significantly more treasures in this area which are also worth a visit.
Firstly, there’s the National Museum of Pre-history in Eyzies-de-Tayac (see photo above), where reconstructions of animals and humans and 18,000 assembled items will allow you to discover the history of humanity, while the Roque Saint-Christophe, a pre-historic shelter, provides countless evidence for its function as a dwelling place over the centuries.
There’s also the all-new Pôle international de la Préhistoire, which opened last July to provide a mine of information on the subject as well as cultural and scientific current affairs.
In terms of the logistics of your stay, a room awaits you in a 3* hotel, as well as dinner in a restaurant in Eyzies, detailed documentation and a tourist map.
Enough for a true break from the daily grind, don’t you think?!
