When it comes to the ‘art of living’ and culinary refinement, Périgiord’s reputation is firmly assured... As capital of the Périgord Noir region, Sarlat is a fine example with its festivals celebrating two of the region’s iconic products: goose and truffles. The authentic taste of Périgord!
International truffle festival, Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th January.
This year, Sarlat welcomes the winners of the prestigious Bocuse d’Or international cookery competition for their first ever general assembly outside Paris. To mark the occasion, some of the world’s finest chefs will be showing off their talents in the cultural centre.
You can also visit a reconstruction of a truffle-growing site and a ‘cavage’ expedition (hunting for the precious truffles), watch culinary demonstrations from Michelin-starred chefs and take part in interactive workshops on the theme of truffles.
And don’t forget the famous truffle market, organised by the Confederation of Périgord Noir Truffle Farmers.

Sarlat Fest'oie, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th February.
An iconic product of the South-West, and of the Périgord in particular, in February Sarlat celebrates its geese.
All weekend, the medieval town centre will be buzzing: market stalls on the Place de la Liberté, feather merchants, producers and chefs, local specialities, associations, goose egg painting and calligraphy workshops, traditional games including the goose game...
On Saturday morning visit one of our partner farms to learn all about rearing geese, then head to the Bodeg’oie to taste the goods and enjoy the festival atmosphere. Sunday starts with the market, while the afternoon’s schedule includes carving demonstrations.
Don’t miss the goose soup and pâté!
