What could be simpler than enjoying the beauty of nature? Aquitaine is a region rich with nature reserves, gardens and other protected areas including the Gironde estuary, the largest estuary in Europe.
Â
The naturalist guides from the Aquitaine Bird Protection League propose discovery outings to 54 sites in the region.
Â
Did you know that the Palus du Grand Brésil are just at the gateway to Bordeaux? Have you heard of the Etang de Ménesplet in Dordogne? Have you ever noticed orchids in the Pyrenean foothills?
Â
These guides will show you the unsuspected riches of the plant and animal life. They are passionate about their job and facinating to listen to and you will soon be under the spell: observing footprints on the ground or in the thicket, recognising the song of the nuthatch, watching a bird make its nest… Kids love it too, without a doubt !
Â
It’s worth noting that the LPO and Regards d’ailleurs travel agency are offering extended breaks in the region. One option offers the opportunity to observe the cetaceans of the Bay of Biscay (in August and September) and the other enables visitors to set out and discover the major birds of prey of the Pyrenees (in April and June).
