Nine years of 'Ouvre la Voix'

Affiche 2011 du festival cyclo-musical Ouvre la voix, en Entre-deux-Mers (Gironde).A festival which makes the end of the summer holidays something to look forward to... Every September the Rock School Barbey and the Entre-deux-Mers Tourist Board join forces to present this collision of music, cycling, heritage and gastronomy to tickle your tastebuds, open your eyes and caress your ears.

Through the villages and other sites dotted along the Entre-deux-Mers green route – a 55 km cycle path, taking the route of a disused railway line between Bordeaux and Sauveterre - saddle up to follow the concert caravan and enjoy some gourmet treats along the way.

GiedRé will kick-start this year's festival on Friday evening, at the cooperative winery of Mesterrieux, Stranded Horse will be taking over the church in Saint-Brice on Saturday afternoon, while in the evening Carmen Maria Vega will be lighting up the Créon cultural centre (the only concert with an entry fee), before Les Monstroplantes round off proceedings in Lastresne on Sunday.

These are just some of the sites which will welcome the 9 groups on the bill, not forgetting the winners of a Franco-Canadian contest and the famous shouting competition – oh yes!

On a practical note: shuttle buses will run on Friday and Saturday evenings after the concerts, to take festival-goers back to their cars; you can hire bikes in Créon and Sauveterre-de-Guyenne.

As you may have guessed, a festival based around green transport (in the form of cycling) is very environmentally conscious: recycling is encouraged, all glasses and plates are either re-usable or biodegradable, and car-sharing is recommended… So join in!
