The “Best of wine tourism”’ 2009 vintage

Bordeaux, along with Bilbao, Porto, Florence, Mainz, Cape Town, Mendoza and San Francisco, is one of the 8 cities of the Great Wine Capitals network, which was created 10 years ago.

 

On 16th October, the Smith Haut Laffite château hosted the Best of Bordeaux awards ceremony.  

 

For this 6th event, 19 estates won awards including the Best of golden medals, the winners of which will compete for the international prize on the 16th November in Cape Town, in the following categories: 

- Architecture, Parks and Gardens, château Franc Mayne at Saint-Emilion (photo)
- Accommodation at the estate, château Carbonneau at Pessac-sur-Dordogne
- Insight and innovation, Agassac château at Ludon-Médoc
- Organisation of events, château Haut-Bailly at Léognan
- and finally, Promotion of environmental practices, château Cablanc at Saint-Pey-de-Castets.

 

The judges’ favourite went to the château La Rose Bellevue, owned by Mr and Mrs Eymas at Saint-Palais, North Gironde.
